Installing Barn Door Lock Systems

Barn door lock systems – Keeping your treasured possessions under lock and key is sometimes said easier than doing so. Finding the right balance between safety and ease of use can make the door lock selection difficult. The master key offers a simple way to secure a door without having to use a specific key. With a keyhole door lock, any simple key skeleton will open the locking mechanism. If this type of easy-to-open locking suits your needs, it can be installed in a few steps. Loosen the bolts securing the existing door plate with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit. Loosen the screws securing the knob in the door lock with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit. Some knobs are secured in place by Allen head screws and require an Allen wrench for removal.
Barn door lock systems, loosen the screws securing the locking mechanism on the side of the door with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit. Loosen the screws securing the door lock plate against the door jamb with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit. Remove all hardware from the door lock and slide the door lock sideways out of the door. Hold the faceplate master key lock against the door and trace the keyhole and door knob with a stylus. Drill the keyhole and door knob through the door with an electric drill and drill.
Insert the locking mechanism on the side of the barn door lock systems. If the cavity of the door is not large enough, widen the hole by drilling recess holes above or below the existing hole with a drill and a drill bit. Chisel the edges of the mortise holes until the master key lock mechanism can engage. Place the plate over the locking mechanism on the side of the door and screw in place with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit. Screw the faceplate into place with an electric drill and the screwdriver bit so that the eyebolt hole and doorknob match the holes in the faceplate. Insert the door knob post through the locking mechanism. Attach the door knobs to the door knob post and secure them in place with an Allen wrench or electric drill and the screwdriver bit.
