Refinish Folding Table and Chairs for Patio

Folding table and chairs – Whether you want to refinish your patio table and chairs by dyeing or painting them, you need to understand the importance of proper surface treatment, or you are likely to end up with a disappointing finish. If you plan to paint your outdoor furniture, you must condition the surface to promote color adhesion, or if you eventually end with chipping and peeling. If you want to paint furniture, you must remove any old paint that can interfere with the furniture’s ability to absorb the stain.
Clean folding table and chairs with detergent and a coarse plastic brush. Rinse furniture with a water hose. Sand outside the shiny coat of paint using a palm grinder loaded with 200 grit sandpaper. Wipe the table and chairs with a please cloth. Protect any parts of the table and chairs you want to be left uncolored by covering them with a target tape. Cover the floor below the furniture with plastic drapes. Lay the fabric draperies on top of plastic ones. Apply a thin layer of paint using a two to four-inch oil-based brush. Allow the stain to dry for two hours, and then use an extra coat for a darker surface. Allow the last layer of paint to dry for four hours. Wash oil-based brush with paint nap. Apply two light strokes of paint using an oil-based brush. Allow two hours of drying time between rocks.
Refinish with Paint, Clean folding table and chairs with detergent and a coarse plastic brush. Rinse furniture with a water hose. Allow the surface to dry completely before proceeding. Scrape all loose or scale paint using a metal patch. Remove any remaining pieces of paint with 120-grit sandpaper. Protect any parts of the table and chairs you want to be left unpainted by covering them with a target tape. Cover the floor below the furniture with textures. Apply a layer of latex bonding primer to the patio table and chairs using a two- to four-inch latex brush. Allow the primer to dry for three hours. Wash the brush with water. Apply acrylic latex paint to furniture using two to four-inch latex brush.
