Rustic Coffee Tables Ideas

Rustic coffee tables – Old blinds have character. Instead of giving them away, refurbish them in any number of ways around the house. Beat up shutters make great headboards, kitchen doors, wall art and tables. Blinds are ideal for coffee tables. The type of blind can be set in a shallow box with an interesting box of agricultural tools show inside and visible through the open slats. Dutch weathered blinds look and are probably hand crafted and should be appreciated for their own visible history and charm. Remove any chips and badly chipped paint from the blind with a wire brush. Vacuum the dust. If the shutter is especially dirty, wipe it carefully with a damp cloth or wash in the yard. Do not remove the character. Just cleaned beam and hook-free. Old paint may have lead and you do not want lead dust in the living room.
Choose legs for the rustic coffee tables. If it is to be used for a lot of buffets, the table can be as high as 21 inches. Hunting for some vintage turned wood legs in thrift stores. Control the flea markets for a table that cannot be saved with legs of the correct height and throw the lid but keep the legs. Buy a set of paws from an online carpenter or a lumberyard. Try uneven legs to add to the shabby charm of the shade. Remember, when calculating height, the thickness of the shade should be subtracted from your preferred height to reach the ideal height for the legs.
Distress the legs before attaching them to the rustic coffee tables. Unless you are destroying the whole piece under a coat of paint, experiment with legs of different colors or stains. Select a blind color if you have a pattern or show the layers of paint. Whatever you choose to do with your legs, be sure to take a hammer and chains and other objects so that they age them so they mimic with the table top. Paint the legs of a color and then paint on it a different color and lastly the sand a bit of the upper layer of the edges where the used table legs could have seen some wears. Screw metal brackets on the underside of the blind in the four corners where the legs go. Carefully measure for space evenly. The legs on the metal brackets of the screw and set the right table up. Make sure not to wobble. Set a carpenter’s level at the top to make sure the table is perfectly level.
